Your browser does not support the audio element.

Oral history interview with David Smith. David shares memories of growing up in the South Madison neighborhood, the youngest of eight children in his family, and describes the community outside his home as a close-knit extended family. He talks about the important role that the South Madison Neighborhood Center played in the lives of families, and shares how he transformed it into the Boys & Girls Club when he was director of the Center in the 1990s. David also talks about his career as a pastor and his nontraditional approach to thinking beyond church walls.
