David shares memories of growing up in the South Madison neighborhood, the youngest of eight children in his family, and describes the community outside his home as a close-knit extended family. He talks about the important role that the South Madison Neighborhood Center played in the lives of families, and shares how he transformed it into the Boys & Girls Club when he was director of the Center in the 1990s.
